У меня уровень английского около Inter, текст читался практически как художественный, в словарь приходилось заглядывать только за отраслевыми терминами и разговорными идиомами, которых в тексте хватает, а в целом мистер Обама весьма мастерски написал захватывающую историю жизни, чуть ли не с сюжетными поворотами.
Заметила, что не было ощущения "тягомотности" чтения: вроде читаешь, вовлекаешься в рассказ, переживаешь (местами до слёз, если честно), а потом оказывается, что ты всего десяток страниц прочитал - настолько текст плотный.
Мистер Обама охватил многие аспекты своей деятельности в период первого срока президентом США: финансовый кризис, внешнеполитическую деятельность, экологические программы, межпартийную борьбу, работу над проблемами здравоохранения, иммиграции, прав человека, программу ядерного разоружения, войну в Ираке и Афганистане... И мне думается, за чистую монету принять мне всё сложно, но в целом мне очень приятен Барак Обама, как человек, импонируют его цели, пусть не всегда средства.
Мне понравилось, как деликатно он отзывается об оппонентах и откровенно недоброжелателях (но в то же время в качестве чуть ли не единственного исключения катком проехался по своему будущему на тот момент преемнику в кресле президента), а уж о коллегах говорит, как о членах семьи.
Я восприняла эту книгу в целом, как отличную возможность посмотреть на мир чужими глазами, поскольку политикой я совершенно не интересуюсь.
Судя по послесловию, должно быть продолжение. Я бы и его с удовольствием почитала.
