Эта книга, конечно, не для всех. В большинстве своем это причудливая поэзия Среднеземья. Однако некоторые из них представляют собой глупые или суховато-комичные переделки народных стихов. Она не слишком расширяет рамки вселенной LOTR, но представляет собой приятный ряд изысков и интересного содержания. Подавляющее большинство текста - комментарии. Книга построена таким образом, что все стихи находятся в передней части книги, а соответствующие комментарии и исторические разделы - в задней. Поэтому легко читать только стихи и пропускать комментарии. Если вы хотите получить больше информации о Толкиене, узнать больше о процессе его написания и постоянного редактирования наряду с академическими комментариями и некоторыми объяснениями игры слов в поэзии, то вам понравится этот текст. Если же вы хотите получить от книги больше LOTR, то примерно 3/4 стихотворений будут интересны, но остальная часть книги и комментарии в целом не впечатлят.
